R.I.P. JAY REATARD

Con tristeza publico esta noticia. Jay Reatard ha muerto, tenia 29 años. La noticia en Pitchfork lee así:

Very, very sad news: It has been confirmed that Jay Reatard has died. He was 29 years old. More details are forthcoming.

Goner Records writes, "It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard. Jay died in his sleep last night. We will pass along information about funeral arrangements when they are made public." The Memphis Commerical Appeal reports that Reatard was found in his home at 3:30 am this morning.

Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was a staple of the Memphis garage rock scene for years before bursting on the national scene with 2006's Blood Visions and subsequently signing to Matador. His most recent album, Watch Me Fall, came out last year.

A statement from Matador reads, "Jay was as full of life as anyone we've ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly."

M.I.A. NEW ALBUM

Luego de 5 meses de trabajo, la cantante M.I.A. de 34 años lanzara su próxima producción grabada en estudio el próximo verano. Así lo reveló en una entrevista para Rolling Stones en el que señala:

“The last album, I didn’t actually sit anywhere long enough for it to really be in my life and to really think about it. Now I’m putting out my next album, and the world has changed. I came up talking shit about Bush, and it’s great that it’s changed, but I don’t know how much it’s changed, and I’m exploring that. I just want to be real, whatever that is. Even if my songs are shit, and if I have flaws and if I’m confused, if I offend people or if I don’t offend people, I might try to work it out in public, just so you know that it’s OK to think, that thinking’s not a dirty word.”

Promete nuevos beats y cantar más. Resaltó haber trabajado más con los ritmos y la producción general en Kala y rapear más. El nuevo album contará con la producción de Blaqstarr. FUCKEN' A!

SANTIGOLD PRODUCING DEVO NEW MUSIC

New wave pioneers DEVO have recruited singer SANTIGOLD to produce songs for their first album since 1990. The Whip It hitmakers are aiming to release the as-yet-untitled project in the spring (10), and frontman Mark Mothersbaugh reveals they were contacted by 20 producers, including Snoop Dogg and Fatboy Slim, to help in the studio.

But they picked 33-year-old Santigold to remix their tracks. She tells Paste Magazine, "They’re just, like, my band idols. Them and The Smiths. But DEVO, I made them pull out the red hats and pose for a picture." The album will be the band's first since 1990's Smooth Noodle Maps.
